About Hope Lutheran Child Care Center
Our Mission
To provide a safe environment in a faith based atmosphere with a focus on high quality, affordable, early education to young children. Loving care is given regardless of race, creed, color, sex or national origin.
Curriculum
Here at HLCCC, we believe children learn best through play and experience. Our thematic center-based curriculum offers children many opportunities to explore their world through classroom activities, learn about numbers, letters, shapes, colors, and more. Progress reports and parent conferences are completed throughout the school year. Our children are also given opportunities to hear God’s Word and learn about Jesus and His love for us. Lesson plans are posted each week and parent involvement is encouraged and welcomed.

History of the Center
In September 1967, members of the church laid the groundwork for Hope Lutheran Kindergarten, which was in operation from the fall of 1968-1972, when the local school districts began providing Kindergarten. In September 1972, the childcare opened again starting out with two part-time preschool classes. Since the re-opening in 1972 the childcare has continuously remained in operation serving the needs of the diverse New Castle area in which it resides. Preschool continued to be part of the program until being phased out in 2004, when the community’s need for half-day preschool shifted to a rising need for full day childcare. Presently our preschool curriculum is presented throughout our full day program. Over the years, this ministry of the church has grown into a wonderful school that abides by state regulations set forth by the Office of Childcare Licensing.
HLCCC Staff
Quality staffing is provided with a teaching ratio of 1:7 throughout the building. Younger children are staffed at a ratio of 1:4 or 1:5. The staff is qualified and well trained, meeting and exceeding the requirements set by the Delaware Office of Childcare Licensing. Staff is required to stay current with CPR, First Aid, and Medication Administration training, as well as continuing training hours each year. Those employed at HLCCC have a deep commitment to the education and care of young children. They represent the same diversity as the clients we serve.
