The L.I.F.E Food Pantry is a program that provides food for families in need. L.I.F.E stands for Lutherans Involved in Food Emergencies. This was the first food program started at Hope back in the early 1970s. Funded by Lutheran Community Services and donations made through our own congregation as well as other area Lutheran churches, the pantry is operational 5 days a week. The pantry is stocked with donations or food ordered through the Food Bank of Delaware. Bags are packed to feed the hungry who have been referred to us by various agencies. This is one ministry at Hope that needs attention on a day-to-day basis. Under the supervision of Connie Shipe and Hope's other volunteers, the pantry is stocked and bags are filled and ready to be given to those in need. Donations: If you would like to donate food to the LIFE Food Pantry, you can do so by dropping off non-parishable food items in the basket marked LIFE Food Pantry by the north entrance of the church. For larger quantities, contact the church office at 328-7909. Volunteers are needed to insure that we continue to meet the needs of our community. People are needed to make sure bags of food are always packed and ready to be given out. When food is ordered, people are needed to offload the truck and stock the pantry shelves. If you are interested in helping, please contact Connie Shipe at 328-7909.
